WE HAVE A COMMITTED BUILDING FOR OUR CO-OP & GALLERYMr. and Mrs. Ben Quintana have committed to letting us use
the Rayner Drug Store! We will be able to go in and start transforming the space into a GALLERY/WORKSHOP/MEETING AREA
on 1 August 2007. We hope to have our opening by the 1st week in September! So gather up you painting/work shoes
and clothes, 'cause we should be starting on the building the 1st week in August!
There will be
a general membership meeting sometime around the middle of July to plan out all the details. We will let all members
know the time and place as soon as possible.

St. Tammany Art Association is proud to present a series of great studio art ,classes for adults this summer, beginning with the return of a popular watercolor workshop next week, and, in July, pastel painting, drawing and sculpture for beginners and intermediates alike. �
WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP � Thursday
- Saturday, June 28, 29 & 30, from 9am to Noon. � Beginners and intermediates learn essential techniques: washes, wet-in-wet painting, cropping and masking, plus tips on quality papers, paints and supplies. The

PASTEL PAINTING � Mondays
July 2 to August 6, from 9am to Noon. � An 18-hour, all-level class dealing with composition, creating depth with hard and soft edges, underpainting, problem solving, and painting from photographs. Instructed
by Ed Dyer (Portrait Society of America, Degas Pastel Society).
LEARNING TO SEE: INTRO TO DRAWING Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 24 to August 16.� Demystifying the process
of drawing by focusing on observation and fundamentals
with still life setups, contour drawing and understanding form
and value.� Taught by Christopher Deris (Adjunct Faculty, Loyola-UNO)
CLAY HANDBUILDING WORKSHOP � July 14, 15 & 22, 1-6 pm.� Learn ceramic hand-building
techniques and transform the surface of your ceramic piece to make
weird, wonderful stuff with clay.� The final session features a demonstration of Raku, in which the piece is removed from a hot kiln and placed in masses of combustible material to crackle glazes and stain the surface with carbon.�

The Blues
is so much more than the connotation of the word blue...the Blues is a cultural phenomenon, born to Sharecroppers from the
Mississippi Delta. This year, presenters of the worlds second oldest Blues Festival, (the oldest in the South) are interested
in featuring indigenous Delta folk arts, crafts and southern cuisine that reflect the great cultural heritage of the Mississippi
Delta.
The purpose of the Delta Blues and Heritage Festival is to reach a worldwide audience with a celebration
of the cultural contributions people from the Mississippi Delta have made to the American story Ours is an effort to
help preserve an American Treasure for the worlds enrichment. With your artistic and culinary help, Mississippi Action for
Community Education (MACE) will continue to be in the forefront of promoting and keeping this National Treasure alive and
well and growing strong.
As an added bonus, MACE will present BLUES RIBBONS and promotional recognition
from the Main Stage to the booth/vendor/artist, who best reflects Delta Blues and/or the significance of Blues Heritage, as

There is a "Hope" Exhibit being held August 20 through September 7, 2007 in the lobby of
Forrest General Hospital's Cancer Center in Hattiesburg, MS. This show is a joint effort between FGH's Spirit
of Women and Waiting For a Cure Group. The theme of the Show is "Hope" and will be each artiist's interpretation
of the word "hope" - hope for a cure or a treatment for various cancers. The show should inspire hope in the
lives of the people that see the paintings. This is not a judged event; the show will be work on display for sale with
10% of the proceeds going to the Spirit of Women group. If anyone has any questions about the exhibition, contact Beth

New Project at the Coleman Center in YorkYORK, Ala. — The Coleman Center for the Arts is pleased to announce
a new project of the Public Artworks Program by current resident artist Suzanne Hagood. Video and Sound Event: Community Collaboration,
is the result of Hagood’s six-month residency at the Coleman Center for the Arts. The outdoor installation and gallery
exhibition will open to the public on June 9 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m., and the exhibition will be on display through July 29.
