Rhea Espey received her BFA in Art
Education from the Mississippi University for Women. She continued her education at the University
of Southern Mississippi and received her Master of Art Education. She has taught high school art for six years at West Lauderdale
Attendance Center in Collinsville, MS. Her graduate studies at USM focused on advancing the Arts in her local community.
For her solo Graduate Exhibit at USM, her media
included oil paintings, charcoal drawings, and ceramic stoneware. Rhea's art reflects the memory of Mississippi's
native tree--the pine. Her work depicts the remaining beauty and majesty of the pine tree as the threat of deforestation robs
the landscape of its living monuments.
