I grew up drawing on scrap paper my dad brought home from work. There being no art classes in our schools and too busy in college to try an art class, I had no lessons until I moved to New Orleans and took from Lorraine in private classes.
Moving to Meridian and having a family delayed taking further classes until I took all MCC had to offer in 1977-1979 with Randy Shoults. I took my Masters in Art from Mississippi College in 1985 studying with Stephen Cook and Dr. Sam Gore.
I taught art at Lamar Middle and High School for the next 8 years. I have done further studies with Terry Cherry, Brent Funderburk, Michael French, Dudy Fletcher in Chambridge, Ma., and a number of professors at Savannah School of Art and Design. My most recent study has been with Vladislav and Dimitri Andreyev of the Prospon School of Iconography.
I have worked in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mediums of the Renaissance-silverpoint and egg tempera. My focus at present is iconography and watercolor.
I am a board member of the Meridian Museum of Art.
