Lindy Larkin Wood, a native to Livingston Alabama, graduated from the University of South Alabama, summa cum laude with a B.A. in Nursing. In 2002 she received a master’s degree in Nursing. In 2007 began to pursue her art further as a stay at home mother. Self taught and learning everyday, Lindy works primarily in acrylic and watercolor. Her passion is painting wildlife. Lindy strives to capture animal’s unique regal presence with the use of rich color and it’s interaction with light. “I paint everyday, with that comes new challenges. I strive to create new pieces of art that are better than my previous work.” Lindy reports that her surroundings are the inspiration for her art. “Living in rural Alabama allows me to visualize native wildlife in a natural habitat. Our farm has an abundance of turkey, deer, duck, and wild geese, not to mention our family’s domesticated animals including, horses, donkey, cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, dogs and cats just to name a few! One of my favorite pastimes is riding in the golf cart through our pastures and woods with my husband and children photographing significant flora and fauna to use as reference material for creating new art.” Lindy’s studio is located at her farm in Livingston, AL. She resides there with her husband and two children. “I am very thankful to all of my supporters, friends, and family who have encouraged me to explore my artistic talent. I am especially thankful to the Good Lord for this talent”. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10) |
